[Xinmin Evening News-Xinmin.com] On the evening of March 15, the National People's Congress had just closed, and a recruitment presentation was held in Tsinghua Garden. The speaker was Li Yueqi, secretary of Shanghai Yangpu District Party Committee, who extended an invitation to the students of prestigious schools to recruit talents for Yangpu's construction of a national demonstration base for dual-creation. In the following two days, district departments also joined dozens of famous enterprises, such as IBM, Siemens and Warburg Pincus, to hold campus recruitment activities at Tsinghua University, Peking University and Renmin University of China, launching 30 young reserve talent positions, 30 teaching positions, 300 corporate positions and a number of internship positions, attracting many students to line up for consultation and resume submission. Scientific and technological innovation, talents first; transformation and take-off, talents as thirst. The main leaders of the district party committee and the district government led a team to carry out special job fairs in famous universities, which also reflects the momentum of Yangpu's construction of Shanghai Science and Technology Innovation Center and National Dual-Trading Demonstration Base in full swing.
Entrepreneurs turn wisdom into wealth here
In 2012, Xinhua Ji, the "first generation of Chinese s" who graduated from Tongji University, founded a cloud computing company in Yangpu District together with two friends. In just a few years, the company has received three rounds of $160 million in investment, grown to 270 employees, and has more than 20,000 Internet users. The company is one of the first "Trusted Cloud Computing Enterprises" certified by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), and is also the first cloud computing vendor in China to be based in North America. It was the first cloud computing vendor to set foot in North America, which is called UCloud. Today, UCloud has the ability to compete directly with Aliyun and Tencent Cloud in the cloud computing field.
Xinhua Ji and his company, Usgide, are just one of the legends that have emerged in Yangpu District in recent years, a hotbed of innovation and entrepreneurship. The "Tsinghua Three Musketeers" of Yangpu are also very famous. They are three post-80s graduates from Tsinghua University's Department of Electrical Engineering - Jing Gu, Yi Wang and Hui Lin - who founded Jingwei Electronics and Fluent English in Yangpu. In recent years, many talented and creative young people have fulfilled their entrepreneurial dreams in Yangpu, turning their knowledge and wisdom into wealth.
All these are inseparable from the strong "dual-track" atmosphere that Yangpu District has been striving to create. Relying on the unique scientific and educational resources of universities, Yangpu District has built 20 science and technology parks, among which the National University Science Park accounts for more than half of the parks in Shanghai. At the same time, various kinds of creative spaces have sprung up, including Ant Hacker, Qidi Incubator, Innospace+, IPO club, etc., which have settled in Wujiaochang Creative World and Changyang Valley, with a total of 60. Today, Yangpu District has more than 2.3 million square meters of innovation and entrepreneurship carriers, with more than 1,000 entrepreneurial teams living in the district. The district fully supports both "high and big ocean" (high-tech, large enterprises, foreign enterprises) and "small and young new" (small and micro enterprises, young innovative enterprises, "four new" enterprises). At present, there are more than 9,900 science and technology-based enterprises in the district, and 64 enterprises are listed or listed in various capital markets.
In May last year, the State Council announced the first batch of 28 "Double Innovation" demonstration bases in China, and Yangpu District was selected as the only regional demonstration base in Shanghai, and in December last year, it was included in the list of innovative urban pilot construction by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the National Development and Reform Commission.
Bringing Technology Parks to America
In the green eco-community of New Jiangwan City, a patchwork of new business buildings is the Bay Valley Technology Park. This is where the National Technology Transfer Eastern Center is located.
Four years ago, Xie Jihua, president of the Eastern Center, was the general manager of the Yangpu Science and Technology Center. After making the technology business incubator a national leader, he has been seeking to transform it, hoping to break down the barriers between industry, academia and research. In April 2015, the National Technology Transfer Eastern Center (an international technology transfer function cluster in the Zhangjiang Demonstration Zone), jointly promoted by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Shanghai Municipal Government, settled in Yangpu, a brand new technology trading platform that provides technology transfer services for innovative achievements and technology Financial services. Over the past two years, the Eastern Center has gathered a total of 41,375 pieces of information on technology transfer supply and demand, 7,765 technology transfer experts, and cultivated 299 technology brokers. The platform has facilitated the docking of 23 scientific and technological achievements with a total contract value of more than 28 million yuan.
Not only that, the eastern center is benchmarked against the world's top science and technology centers, but it also has an international technology transfer layout. In February last year, Zhangjiang Boston Park was inaugurated in Massachusetts, USA. The Boston Park is a major exploration of international technology transfer layout for the Zhangjiang Demonstration Zone and the Eastern Center. Xie Jihua introduced that this is also the first science and technology park jointly built by the Chinese and American governments, and the assets of the park are entirely purchased by the Chinese side, and the first phase will build a life science and biomedical technology innovation center, as well as new energy and environmental protection technology innovation center. For more and more "going out" of the Chinese enterprises, the future can be placed in the local research and development center; American companies can also through this hub, the transfer of technology to China. In addition, the Shanghai Innovation Center (London), which opened last year, is a bridge between Shanghai and London for technology transfer, science and technology finance.
"From industrial Yangpu to innovative Yangpu, Yangpu has transformed and upgraded all the way, but it's not perfect. If you choose Yangpu, you choose the challenge and pioneering that pioneers like, the vision and future that builders like!" In a few words, Li Yuetqi summarized the extraordinary journey of Yangpu over the past decade and showed the infinite possibilities of innovation and entrepreneurship in this 60-square-kilometer land.
